Andreas Theobald Organ Trio
Friday 23. August 2019 @ 17:15 – 19:15
U-Bahn Haltestelle Universität/Markt – Ausgang Stockentor
For more than 80 years now, the hammond organ has offered key musicians a variety of sound and expression possibilities and sets out generation after generation in search of their own fresh sound. Just as jazz is not dead, it is the electromechanical monster. Also on this quest are Paul Prassel, Andreas Theobald and Finn Wiest, who met at the Cologne Academy of Music. In the trio’s repertoire are jazz standards, as well as self-compositions of the three young musicians.
Andreas Theobald first played the accordion and then switched to piano. For many years he received lessons from the Bonn pianist Marcus Schinkel, later he also took hours with Martin Sasse. From 2014-2016 he was a member of the Youth Jazz Orchestra Bonnbefore joining the Youth Jazz Orchestra NRW after a first place at the Youth Jazzt competition, in which he participated until 2019.
Since 2016 he has been a student at the Cologne Academy of Music in the classes of Prof. Hendrik Soll and Florian Ross and Hubert Nuss. As a scholarship holder, he is supported by the Cusanuswerk.
