BONN JAZZ ORCHESTER
JAZZ IN CONCERT presented by Thomas Kimmerle
Monday 23. September 2019 @ 20:00 – 22:00
Pantheon Theater Bonn
It is already a tradition: the BONN JAZZ ORCHESTER is once again a guest at the Pantheon Theater Bonn.
Under the direction of Oliver Pospiech the finest big band literature by classical jazz composers from Thad Jones to Bill Holman to Brookmeyer and much more is on the program.
“An evening with really touching moments, a smooth, sometimes aggressive but always precise orchestra, fabulous soloists and a generous ambience. Pospiech and his 16-piece, top-class ensemble took the enthusiastic audience in the sold-out Pantheon with them on a journey into the far from dusty history of big band music.”General-Anzeiger-Bonn 05-04-2017 by Thomas Kliemann – Concert with Dusko Goykovich / Five o’clock in the morning with Miles in New York
The band members are well-known jazz musicians from the region. Many have attracted attention through their own tape and CD projects, such as Oliver Pospiech, Herwig Barthes, Adi Becker und Dave Horler.
“… Under Pospiech’s direction, the Bonn Jazz Orchestra has remained on this path to success and this time, too, it convinced with selected and above all modern arrangements that presuppose a high playing potential of the musicians. It is a great pleasure to listen to this band, when warm brass movements alternate with biting riffs, wonderful glissandi and tremoli are heard and the soloists literally put the icing on the cake with their brilliant individual performances.”General-Anzeiger-Bonn 30-04-2013 by Wolfgang Schneider – The Bonn Jazz Orchestra showed its class
The band leader, trombonist and arranger Oliver Pospiech has been head of the big band at the University of Bonn since 2002 and is known nationally as musical director of the Cologne Stunk Sitzung.
